Perfectly Broken by Prescott Lane
I have been mulling over how exactly I was going to review this book. It took me through so many emotions I can't even express it in words.
Perfectly Broken is one of the best contemporary romance books I have read in awhile. It is well known that I am not a fan of romance books unless they come in the form of erotica. Contemp Romance books usually are too sickly sweet, I can't take it. I like a story, a big juicy story, behind the romance. Peyton has a past that is strangling her life. She has completely withdrawn with the only human contact being her gram, her customers at the pie shop and Quinn her best friend. Quinn's brother Griffin is also a tether for her but he lives in Chicago. In walks Reed one day and totally rips the carpet out from underneath her.
I loved the build up in this story. It didn't leave you wanting to rip your hair out. There were no bimbo-ish, sappy characters, just women who were so relatable they could be your friend IRL. No falling in love in one day. I loved how the character's popped off the page, the felt real. Perfectly Broken was heart-wrenching, fun, humorous and steamy all wrapped up in one book. It was never morose, I can't deal with books like that. I have enough of my own drama, I don't like reading about others drama, books are an escape for me. I am in awe how the author could write such heavy material but worked it into a fantastic, romantic love story. You were just rooting for all the characters. Except for Reed's Dad but you have to read the book to see what I am talking about.
I am totally in love with Prescott Lane's writing and I can't wait to see what she has next. Fantastic. A MUST READ.
